JOGLE Day 7 - Lydford to Lands End

96.4 Miles and 6493 feet of climbing

Setting off at 8 this morning after a great B & B at Heathergate near Lydford.

Our final day to Lands End was spent cycling through beautiful scenery  in glorious sunshine.

We arrived at Lands End at 4 pm to be met by all the family and Cornish friends, Pete and Jen Ham - great celebrations all round and a huge feeling of relief.

We'd like to thank everyone for their support.  It's been great to know how many of you have been following our live map and to receive your messages of encouragement.  Currently the total raised for Great Oaks Hospice stands at over £7000 so thank you so much for supporting this amazing work.

JOGLE Day 6 - Cliffords Mesne to Lydford

150.74 Miles and 8085 feet of climbing

 Crossing the Severn Bridge

Crossing the Avonmouth bridge

The start of a series of leg sapping climbs on the outskirts of Dartmoor national park

Top of the final climb of the day and still smiling!

Jacob was very excited awaiting the arrival of Daddy and Uncle Mike at the pub

Our very well paid cheer leaders were there again at the end of the day!

JOGLE Day 5 - Haslington to Cliffords Mesne

105.67 Miles and 3070 Feet of climbing

A helping hand from Guy & Woody for the first 30 miles to Shawbury
(Almost as motivating as the huge Belgian buns from the bakery!)

Lunch out of the car today was a shock after the luxury spread laid on by Janet and Luke yesterday!

We met up with 15 members of Dad's old cycling club for the last few miles today and the three of us brought day 5 to a close together, a moving moment as we rode back into Cliffords Mesne to be met by the rest of the family, Ann and Sally from Great Oaks and friends from the village.

We all enjoyed coffee and cake, provided for everyone by Jacquie, Stuart and Heather. Just 2  more days to go!

JOGLE Day 4 - Carlisle (Brampton) to Haslington

150.2 Miles and 5850 Feet of climbing

Following the gruelling 12 hour ride yesterday through strong winds and rain, the great hospitality from the Lamb family was very much appreciated.

Also appreciated was Dan and Luke's support riding with Mike and Chris today and the roadside encouragement from Anita near Kendal.

Not so helpful were the 2 punctures Mike managed to pick up.  Chris reckons that there will be no more problems now he's fitted the best brand of tyres - Michelin obviously!

After 150 miles and 6000 feet of climbing, it was very nice to arrive at Chris and Sarah's home in Haslington.

JOGLE Day 3 - Loch Lomond to Carlisle (Brampton)

141.5 Miles - 5363 Feet of Climbing

Setting off from Loch Lomond at 8am (pre-rain!)

A tough day facing strong head winds and plenty of rain!

3 days of cycling and we are back in England!

JOGLE Day 2 - Inverness to Loch Lomond

136 miles - 7258 Feet of Climbing

With the weather once again being very kind a challenging day started off passing Loch Ness shortly after leaving Inverness

At least the benefit of climbing lots of hills means you get some pretty amazing views!

A view of Ben Nevis as we started the never ending climb of Glencoe!

Still smiling at the top of Glencoe and looking forward to the descent after a long day in the saddle!

Overnight stop at the Inn at Loch Lomond - Mike & Chris in one room, Caroline and 2 bikes in the other!

JOGLE Day 1 - John O Groats to Inverness

121.14 miles and 6312 feet of climbing.

Leaving John O'Groats at 8.30 am this morning.

Photo taken by Great Oaks supporters Julie and Simon, who were staying in the area and, having seen the post about our ride, came to see us off.

Enjoying the scenery and sunshine.

First hundred miles ticked off - no problem!

Enjoying the hospitality of the Rutherford family in Inverness - thanks for the mountains of spaghetti bolognese and the chocolate cake, guys!

Saturday Evening

Arrived safely in John O'Groats at 7 pm this evening after a good, if rather long, journey.  Plenty of carbs added at dinner and now all ready for a good night's sleep before the big day tomorrow.
